Misinformation about Neill Houston Banister

Neill Houston Banister born on 5 December 1889 at Santa Anna, Coleman County, Texas to Mary Ellen Walker(b.1861 Missouri-d.1892 Texas) Age 27 and John Riley Banister(b.1854 Texas-d.1918 Coleman, Coleman County, Texas) Age 34.

1900 census Age 12 living with his parents and siblings in JP 7 Coleman County, Texas. Joined the Texas National Guard with the 4th Infantry on 6 December 1915 and was activated as 1st Lieutenant in 144th Infantry 5 August 1917 for WW1. He participated in WW1 at France and Germany from 18 July 1918 to 6 June 1919 and was honorably discharged as a Major on 8 July 1919. 1930 census Age 40 living with Maxwells as a lodger in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, working as a warehouse secretary. 1940 census Age 51 living with his wife and step-daughter in JP5 Travis County, Texas, working in procurement for the US Treasury Department. Activated in 1941 as a Colonel in the Texas Army National Guard during WW2. .

Colonel Neill H. Banister Texas Army National Guard Assistant Adjutant General Camp Mabry, Austin, Travis County, Texas. He died of a non-battle event, heart failure, on 28 February 1945 at Camp Mabry, Texas. Col Banister was buried in the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery at Austin, Travis County, Texas.

He is on the memoriam page in the book 'Men and Women in the Service WWII'. I have removed Colonel Banister from Coleman County because I have not found any evidence that he had qualified as a US Army active duty casualty of WW2.
