I have removed Pfc Cecil Richard Floyd from the Korean War Honor Roll simply because I have not found any evidence he had a connection to San Saba County. I believe the War Dept made a mistake with the name 'Hall', using it as a town name instead of the county where Cecil was living when he enlisted.
Cecil Richard Floyd born 18 December 1928 in Kirkland, Childress County, Texas to Iva Oma Moore (b. 1899 Texas - d. 1963 Clarendon, Donley County, Texas) age 30 and Charley Richard Floyd (b. 1891 Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas - d. 1972 Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas) age 37.
1930 Census age 1 living in Childress, JP1 Childress County, Texas with his parents, three sisters, a brother and his grandmother Sophira Floyd. 1935 living in Matador, Motley County, Texas. 1940 Census age 11 living in JP2 Donley County, Texas with his parents, two sisters and a brother. Enlisted in the US Army on 24 May 1947 and trained with the Hq & Service Company 307th Engineer Battalion and was a Corporal when discharged on 23 January 1950. He reenlisted in the US Army on 2 August 1950 and was trained as a Light Weapons Infantryman assigned to the 45th Infantry Division, and listed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Floyd of Turkey, Hall County, Texas, as his next of kin contacts. [nba] .
Private First Class Cecil R. Floyd 18292766 US Army Company A 180th Infantry Regiment 45th Infantry Division. He was hospitalized for a wound received in action on 6 October 1952 by a missile or shrapnel and was returned to duty. On 4 December 1952 he was accidentally shot and killed by another US Army soldier and was statused as DNB, died non-battle. His body was recovered from North Korea and repatriated to America. His funeral was held in Turkey, Hall County, Texas and burial in the Childress Cemetery at Childress, Childress County, Texas on 4 March 1953.
